BALLOTS ARE IN THE MAIL; OVER THE COUNTER VOTING STARTS MONDAY

Mail-in ballots for the November 5, 2024, general election are on their way to voters who requested them.

More than 175,000 mail-in ballot applications have been processed by the Elections Division. The ballots will be mailed in batches of 40,000 to 50,000 and will begin arriving as early as Saturday.

The deadline to request a mail-in ballot is October 29. Voters who are interested in voting by mail are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to ensure timely delivery. The deadline to register to vote in the November 5 election is October 21. Before you register, check your status on the registration look up tool, so that you don’t submit a duplicate request.

With ballots now available, over the counter voting will begin Monday, September 30, in the lobby of the County Office Building, 542 Forbes at Ross Street in Downtown Pittsburgh. See below for more information.
SAMPLE BALLOTS POSTED ONLINE

Voters may review sample ballots available online. To view a sample ballot, you will need your municipality, ward, and district information. You can find that information on your voter registration card or look it up on the PA Voter Services tool.
BALLOT RETURN, SATELLITE VOTING LOCATIONS, AND OVER-THE-COUNTER VOTING

The County will, as it did before the April Primary Election, offer ballot return sites.

Ballot return sites are staffed by County employees. Voters who receive a ballot in the mail may return the voted ballot by bringing it in person to a return site to hand to a County employee. Ballot return sites will be open from 11 am to 7 pm, Tuesday, October 29, through Monday, November 4, except during the weekend of November 2 and 3, when the scheduled availability will be from 9 am to 5 pm.

An important reminder: each voter may only turn in their own ballot unless they have completed authorization forms to turn in a ballot on behalf of someone who physically is unable to return their voted ballot.

Ballot return sites will only accept completed ballots. There are no provisions for over-the-counter voting at ballot return sites.

The County will offer a fuller range of services for voters at satellite offices. Residents can go to a satellite office to register to vote, request a mail-in ballot, complete and return it, all in one place--commonly referred to as over-the-counter voting. Over-the-counter voting has been available the last several elections at the County Office Building in the first floor lobby during business hours in the weeks before Election Day, and will be offered this year until October 29, the deadline for submission of mail-in ballot requests.

Satellite offices at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall will be open from 8 am to 4 pm October 15-17. Other locations listed below will be open from 9 am to 5 pm October 19-20 and 26-27. See below for more info about locations, dates, and times.

TRANSLATION HELP AVAILABLE ON THE ALLEGHENY COUNTY WEBSITE

Allegheny County webpages can be translated into different languages by simply selecting the preferred language from a drop-down button at the top right side of any page. The button defaults to English. Clicking on it will summon a display of the languages available.

Voters can also find Spanish and Chinese translations of helpful documents on the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania website.

MAKE A PLAN TO VOTE: CHECK YOUR POLLING LOCATION

More than 60 polling places relocated for the April primary election, and another 30 are being relocated before November. That means 1 out of 10 polling places in Allegheny County moved at some point this year.

You can check on your polling place here. Changed locations are highlighted in yellow. Locations that will be changing are highlighted in red.

Voters whose polling place is moving will be notified by mail of the new address of their polling place. Former polling places are identified by posters directing voters to the new location on Election Day.

You’ll need your municipality, ward, and district to identify your polling place. If you don't have that information, you can find it here.
