Election Day is Tomorrow, Tuesday, November 7
Polls Will Be Open from 7 AM to 8 PM

PITTSBURGH – The Elections Division today reminded voters that election day is tomorrow, Tuesday, November 7, 2023, and offered the following final reminders and information:

Emergency Ballots

Voters who planned to vote in-person but are no longer able to go to a polling place because they’re ill, disabled, or will be absent from their municipality may apply for an emergency absentee ballot. Voters may go to the Elections Division to request an application, or may download and complete the online form, along with a designated agent form, and have someone deliver it for you.

Ballot Return

Voters who have applied for an absentee or mail-in ballot are reminded that their ballot must be received by 8 PM on Election Day in order to be counted. The ballot must be placed in the secrecy envelope, and the secrecy envelope secured in the declaration envelope. The voter must sign and date (with the date they completed the ballot) the back of the envelope. If any of those things are missing, the ballot will not be counted.

Not sure if you followed those instructions? Go to your polling place and vote provisionally.

Want to check if your ballot has been received? Check your Election Ballot Status online.

Changed your mind and want to vote in person? Take your ballot packet to the polling place and surrender it to poll workers. If you don’t have the entire packet, you will be allowed to vote provisionally.

The Elections Division has curbside ballot return at the County Office Building downtown with a lane set aside for that purpose on Ross Street in the block between Forbes and Fourth avenues. It will be available until 8 PM this evening, and again tomorrow from 7 AM to 8 PM.

Voters are reminded of the following:

  • State law requires that voters return their own ballot; they may not return the ballots of others
  • Ballots must be placed in the secrecy envelope; “naked” ballots will not be counted
  • Voters should not mark the secrecy envelope in any way
  • Voters must sign and write date the date they are signing on the declaration envelope; if either the signature or date, or both, are missing, or if an incorrect date is used, the ballot cannot be counted

In-Person Voting

All 1,324 precincts in the county will be open tomorrow. If there is a line at 8 PM, anyone in that line will be allowed to vote.

There were 36 polling places that changed since the primary. A mailing was sent to EVERY household in those districts advising them of the new location. Additionally, where there have been changes, signage has been posted on the “old” polling places directing voters to the correct one.

Voters heading to the polls are encouraged to:

Look Up Your Polling Place (Use Your Mailing Address City, Not Your Municipality)

Pre-Canvassing and Canvassing

As of 4 PM, 107,173 mail-in and absentee ballots has been returned. There have been 141,111 approved, marking a 76% return rate. Pursuant to state law, employees at the elections warehouse will begin processing those ballots at 7 AM tomorrow morning.

Election Results

Election results will begin posting at 8 PM. Results from mail-in and absentee ballots are expected to post first, with in-person elections results beginning to post around 9-9:30 PM. Results will be posted through the evening until all 1,324 polling place materials are returned.

Results will be posted on the Elections Results page:
